SHADOW YOGA BASICS SERIES
Shadow Yoga Basics is a course which focuses on fundamental Yogic principles, energetic anatomy, warm-up forms (seated & standing), standing prelude forms, asanas and breathing techniques which stand at the heart of this unique Hatha Yoga practice. Ultimately it is a practice which aims to prepare the foundation for seated meditation and deep healing.
Prerequisite: These classes are open to those who have participated in Shadow Yoga courses with Matt Pesendian (or referred by another Shadow Yoga teacher).
There are 3 levels of the Shadow Yoga Basics series being offered. Please see descriptions below. Sign-up for courses which are most appropriate for you.
Class length: 1 hour 30 minutes.
LEVEL 1: Especially recommended to those who have practiced Shadow Yoga in the past but feel they need to review and revise from the beginning. This practice will include: Short seated warm-up, standing warm-ups, Jiva Chalana, foundational stances and basic asanas.
LEVEL 2: Any level can take this course.
The primary difference between Level 1 and Level 2: Longer seated warm-up.
LEVEL 3: This class is recommended for those who have a consistent Shadow Yoga practice and are well acquainted with Prelude 1 (Balakrama) and Prelude 2 (Chaya Yoddha Sanchalanam).
LONGEVITY QIGONG SERIES
Slow, gentle, yet energizing, these longevity Qigong forms are based on ancient Chinese yoga postures, movements, self-massage and breathing techniques. They enhance the immune system by strengthening the bones and organs, along with promoting optimal blood flow, lymphatic circulation and oxygen intake. Ultimately, they are designed to safely and effectively guide one’s body, mind and spirit into state of balance.
Prerequisite: no prior experience is necessary.
Class length: 1 hour 15 minutes
SHADOW YOGA: BALAKRAMA - STEPPING INTO STRENGTH - PRELUDE 1
Traditionally Balakrama is the first Shadow Yoga prelude that is introduced to those new to this style of Hatha Yoga. A dynamic bone strengthening form based on endurance, it actively engages one’s feet, ankles, knees, hips, navel and breath.
SHADOW YOGA: CHAYA YODDHA SANCHALANAM - CHURNING OF THE SHADOW WARRIOR - PRELUDE 2
The Tai Chi classics state:
“The internal energy, chi, roots at the feet, then transfers through the legs and is controlled from the waist, moving eventually through the back to the arms and fingertips.”
Prelude 2 is designed to teach the essence of this foundational energetic principle which lies at the heart of all internal arts. Along with activating the pranic winds (vayu/nadis), this warrior-sun stance form is profoundly grounding, empowering and teaches one the art of graceful coordination.
SHADOW YOGA - RHYTHMIC PRACTICE
These 45 minute classes will be compact, rhythmic prelude practices with no lecture.
Prerequisite: Participated in 1 of the following courses: Shadow Yoga Basics 2,3 and/or Balakrama.
Class length: 45 minutes.
IN-DEPTH WEEKEND WORKSHOPS
(2 hour-15 minutes class): these one and two day workshops will consist of a 45 minute lecture – 5 minute break - and conclude with 1 hour 25 minute practice.

If you miss the LIVE STREAM class, within 36 hours you will receive an email with a link/password that will be provided for 6 days to review and practice with.

ALL CLASSES WILL BE LIVE-STREAMED VIA ZOOM
It is your responsibility to become familiar with how to operate and navigate ZOOM.
I will not be providing technical assistance before, during or after the classes, so testing your ZOOM platform and Wifi beforehand is highly recommended.
Register for the specific course you want to take at a least 1 hour prior to its start time.
After you book a course, a CONFIRMATION EMAIL WITH A LINK and PASSWORD (as well as a reminder with link/password will be sent to you).
OTHER IMPORTANT INFO TO NOTE:
Within 36 hours after the class is over you will also receive a follow up link so that you may review the class for an additional 6 days.
If you don’t receive an email confirmation you may need to check your spam folder.
When you enter the live stream class, your microphone will be muted. This reduces the feedback for all attendees.
When we practice, we practice. I will not be checking Chat Room function when I’m teaching.
